![]() ![]() I popped the hood and noticed a small fire. I got out of the vehicle and noticed that oil was leaking from the front of the vehicle under the engine area. I turned into my complex and parked the vehicle immediately at the front of the complex. A light came on the dashboard saying trans over temp? A translucent smoke started to come from the front of the vehicle under the hood. On my way back home, a symbol on the dashboard flashed and the car started to rattle and shack. On Januat 9:15 a.m., I drove my vehicle to Marietta. The following is a chain of events that Iv’e noticed that took place with my vehicle since having my oil changed at Jiffy Lube (Store #2103): They never changing the oil or if they did, they did not place enough. Because of the mileage they suggested a manual oil flush and within a month’s time ruined the transmission to the point it has to be replaced. I went to Jiffy lube for an oil change on my Honda Accord 03. I am at this point an emotional wreck from this, as the car is more than 240 miles away in some mechanic’s shop that does not do any work on electrical systems. I have also contacted the owner of the Jiffy Lube as well as the car dealership that I purchased the car from. Currently I am working on a resolution on this problem and have contacted the corporate office of Jiffy Lube. The Jiffy Lube in question denied all claims of wrong-doing. The vehicle is not a total loss but will require approximately $1000 worth of repairs to get it back up and running properly. The car was purchased used with no expressed or written warranty. It was not done, and now the car sits with electrical damage. Evidently they are required when doing a coolant change to start the vehicle and let it burp to ensure that the coolant level was proper. I contacted them, and the manager (Charles) and he stated that they had made a mistake by not checking the vehicle prior to it leaving. Unfortunately on my way to his shop, the car died and preceded to catch on fire due to no coolant in the system. Not knowing whether it was going to break down or not, I told him I would try to get it back. He asked it I could get it back to him at the original shop. Then he stated that the other shop wasn’t answering their phones so he wasn’t sure they were open. I called the shop and described the problems I was having, and he requested that I return it to another shop. ![]() After going approximately 5-10 miles the overheat light came on, and within a few miles the oil light came on. Figuring that it was new coolant and needed a chance to warm up, I paid little attention to it. I left the store after that, and the heater was blowing cold air. The technician stated that my coolant was not good for a low temperature (according to him only good to +10F) and suggested a coolant flush, I bought it. I decided that since it was a used car (had driven it with no problems approximately 500 miles before I got to the Jiffy Lube), I would get the oil changed. On my way home I happened through Spokane, Washington, and saw a Jiffy Lube open on a Sunday. I purchased a used vehicle in Idaho and was driving it home. At this time I don’t know what else is going to be involved. This fell into the mechanical areas of the vehicle while driving–causing damage. The mechanic left a foot-long commercial screwdriver inside the engine compartment. Runs very poorly compared to how I brought it in to have it serviced. I came in to have my car serviced, now it idles roughly, and check engine light is now on. I stayed at Jiffy Lube until closing they never helped me and said, “It’s not our problem there is nothing we can do for you today.” I drove out, with nobody to help me, and had a huge mess that never was fixed. I went to Napa, got the same part, and they said there was no spring needed for this part. I had no problems before I went in for the oil change. ![]() They said that it was missing before, and that the “check engine” light came on because of a missing spring. So I drove it right back, and they told me I needed a spring to go with that PCV valve they sold me. I paid my bill and drove on my way.Ībout a block away my “check engine” light came on, and my car started idling really rough. It needed to be replaced, so I had them replace it. ![]() They presented my with a pcv valve, and showed me my current one in my car. During their services they present you with maintenance offers, air filters, transmission flush, etc. I came into Jiffy Lube on Friday, February 8, 2008, around 3 pm. Below are documented complaints against Jiffy Lube, as written by their complainants* Luke of Salt Lake City UT (02/08/08) ![]()
